About me

Hi, I’m Lauren.

I’m a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist offering CBT for adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, OCD, specific phobias, including emetophobia, social anxiety and low self-esteem. I have a particular interest in anxiety disorders and phobias, as well as understanding the role that behaviour plays in maintaining difficulties. I enjoy helping people understand the patterns that can keep anxiety going, including avoidance, reassurance seeking and other safety behaviours, and supporting them to make lasting changes.

I have several years of experience working within mental health services, supporting people with a wide range of experiences and levels of support needs. This has given me a strong understanding of the different factors that can affect our mental health, and the importance of providing support that is individual to each person.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental. I recognise that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable being open about what you are experiencing. Rather than simply telling you what to do, we will work together to understand your difficulties, identify what may be maintaining them and develop a treatment plan that feels relevant to you.

CBT is a practical and evidence-based approach, and I will support you to develop a better understanding of your difficulties and learn strategies that can help you make changes in your day-to-day life. Where appropriate, this may include behavioural experiments and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

I am currently working towards full accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I am committed to providing high-quality, ethical and evidence-based care in line with professional standards. I regularly engage in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure that the support I provide remains safe, effective and appropriate to each individual.

I believe therapy should ultimately help you feel more confident in managing difficulties independently. Throughout our work together, we will regularly review your progress and make sure that therapy continues to meet your needs and goals.
